24 May 04 (Amended 30 May) Team Selection Trials These trials will start on Monday 7 June and run for two weeks. All players are required to attend all training sessions (both A and B team sessions) for the relevant age group for season 2004/05. e.g.Players currently in their final year of an age group will move up to the next age group. Under 12s - Wednesdays - 6.45 to 7.45pm - players under the age of 12 on 31 December 2004 - born after 31 Dec 92 Under 14s - Mondays and Fridays - 7pm to 8pm - players aged 12 or 13 on 31 December 2004 - born between 1 Jan 91 and 31 Dec 92 inclusive Under 16s - Tuesdays - 6pm to 8pm - players aged 14 or 15 on 31 December 2004 - born between 1 Jan 89 and 31 Dec 90 inclusive. Under 19s - Wednesdays 10.15 to 11.15pm and Fridays 11.15pm to 12.15pm - players aged 16, 17 or 18 on 31 December 2004 - born between 1 Jan 86 and 31 Dec 88 inclusive.

23 May 04 Under 19 Play-offs The Thunderhawks completed back to back victories against Flintshiire, 5-2, and Bradford, 7-0, this weekend to retain A league status for season 2004/05. Their final game v Sunderland will determine the top team in this end of season play-off. Hawks Cricket Match A, 35 over per side, challenge cricket match featuring the Bulls Head against our own Blackburn Hawks will take place on Saturday 12 June at Pleasington playing fields, Pitch No.6 (last on the left). The game will commence at 11am. come along and give the Hawks your support.

22 May 04 Under 14 Play-offs A Niall Pilkington hat-trick gave the Kestrels a 4-1 victory at Solihull and has ensured A league ice hockey for the Kestrels in season 2004/05. The Kestrels are now 6 points clear at the top of the play-off table and can finish no lower than second. Congratulations to all concerned! Annual Awards Presentation Evening The season's Annual Awards presentation took place last night at the King Georges Hall in Blackburn. The two Associaton awards were: BIHDA most improved netminder award - Matt Phair - Blackburn Harriers The Award for Outstanding Achievement - Lauren Halliwell - for her selection to the Women's Senior National Team Team awards can be viewed by clicking on the team names listed below: Sparrowhawks Kestrels Harriers Eagles Firehawks Thunderhawks Icehawks Congratulations to all our award winners, many thanks to all the award sponsors and a special thanks goes to Carron Bennett whose monumental effort made last night's successful event possible. 12 May 04 Team Selection - 2004/05 season To enable the coaching staff to carry out an informed and effective selection process, can all current team players who wish to continue into season 2004/05, but who have not yet completed the BIHDA registration process, please hand in their registration documentation before the team selection trials commence in the week of 7 June. 7 May 04 Congratulations to the U13s Northern Conference team on their victory at last weekend's Conference Championship - the following Blackburn players were part of the squad - Wayne Erskine, Kyle Fitton, Max Drakeley and Nathan Degennaro. Max and Nathan were also selected to this year's School of Excellence. In the U15 age group - Chris Arnone and Lauren Halliwell were also selected for the School of Excellence. Ollie Lomax and David Meikle were both members of the Under 17s squad and the nestmaster apologies for not mentioning them in earlier news (No-one bothered to tell me the U17s selection)

1 May 04 Child Protection There will be a very important training session on child protection for ALL coaches and Managers on Wednesday 12th May at 7.00pm in the arena bar. It is essential that all coaches and managers attend this meeting as the BIHDA is now affiliated with Blackburn with Darwin Council with regards to child protection and attendance at this meeting along with the completion of a CRB check is a compulsory requirement. If for any reason you are not able to attend this meeting, please let Bobby Haig or Gill Gillingham know ASAP Conference Tournament A number of our players are taking part in this weekend's conference tournament in Kingston. Players involved include: U11 - Shannon Lingwood U13 - Max Drakeley, Wayne Erskine, Kyle Fitton, Nathan Degennaro U15 - Andrew Blakeley, Daniel Moore, Carl Price, Dominic Corry, Lauren Halliwell, Chris Arnone (nestmaster - My apologies if I've missed anyone, but I can only add the ones I know about) BIHDA wishes them the best of luck for the weekend.
